What your members wear while working out is important. If the piece of clothing they’re in is distracting from their workouts, it can be hard to focus on pushing for that extra mile.
Vinnie Laspina, the co-owner of The Fitness Office in New York City, explained why he partnered with SMART Tiers to fit his clients with athletic clothing that’s perfect for sweating in. CS: How were you introduced to SMART Tiers, and why did you decide to partner with them?
VL: I was fortunate to come across SMART Tiers via an associate of mine who happened to be working on a fitness line of clothing. We decided to begin working with them moving forward, simply because no other product we encountered behaved or handled the performance we needed like this specific brand and material. It was a no-brainer.
CS: What are the benefits to your business as a result of this partnership?
VL: I can speak in potentialities only at this point, as the relationship is still growing and establishing itself. But I’ll say that the potential benefits include, but are certainly not limited to:
- Being the only brand of active fitwear to boast these types of characteristics.
- Most importantly, follow through and substantiation of said claims.
Even after thorough washings the material holds up and there is no real shrinkage or loss of performance (and I have the stereotypical harsh industrial dryers at my disposal). So all-in-all, having this technology will allow me and my team to design aesthetically trend-setting clothes that are equipped with trend-setting attributes. Again, being unique and one-of-a-kind in this particular case is a really good thing. All of the above can and will result in a positive wind of change for fitwear moving forward.
CS: What are the benefits to your members as a result of this partnership?
VL: My clients will benefit from having the leading gear in both style and performance. Being a New Yorker means you look your best whether you’re going to the grocery store at 4 a.m. after a night of being “out on the town” or going to the gym. In the near future you’ll be able to wear the same clothes to both and look even better in each situation for it.
CS: Have you been pleasantly surprised by working with SMART Tiers in any way?
VL: Beyond. The product worked. I didn’t have to spend hundreds on a new workout shirt only to have it land in the “whatever/junk workout shirt pile” in my closet. I beat these shirts up something fierce and they came back even better for it. You know the cliche, “it’ll all come out in the wash?” I do believe it was derived from SMART Tiers’ clothing — only they forgot the part that it comes back even better.
CS: What else can you tell other club owners about the benefits of working with SMART Tiers?

A New Athletic Fashion Company Is Turning Heads
MONROE, NC — A newcomer to the fashion textile market, SMART Tiers, is making waves with their new workout apparel line. According to sportsbusinessdaily.com, the branded exercise apparel industry is nearly a $30 billion market in the US alone, doing $100 billion internationally.
The SMART Tiers patent two-tier fabric is what sets them apart from the competition. “It’s absurd that other athletic clothing companies slap a water-repellant finish on their garments, but the moisture has no place to go; it just stays on your skin,” asserts Lance Dunn, President of Dunn Manufacturing. When people sweat in most wicking garments, the sweat is caught between the fabric and the skin because that moisture has nowhere to go… SMART Tiers fabric propels moisture through the hydrophobic layer into the outer hydrophilic Pima cotton layer where it evaporates quickly. The skin stays dry and comfortable. This is why SMART Tiers is superior to all other sports apparel.
Their new fabric is helping athletes push the boundaries of their sport. "It’s uncanny how well it works,” says Lance. “I give it to people to try and they say ‘you’re never getting it back.'" Jason Brasington, a trainer in Denver, NC, using military protocol, uses 30 pound leg weights and could only do a maximum of eight laps. When wearing SMART Tiers, he was able to do ten laps. Enterprise Gym, co-host of the World’s Strongest Man Contest, has instructors and members who tested the apparel, and found it to be extremely comfortable, dry, and that it actually stops body odor. SMART Tiers gave them the ability to have longer, more vigorous workouts.
Bold colors and performance fashions are designed in house. Beyond its durability and stability, the SMART Tiers line uses organic dyes and pigments exclusively, so wearers can be assured that they are enjoying a chemical-free experience. Since the fabric uses two different fibers, the fabric's face and back can have two distinct colors, yet it’s all one piece of fabric.
